The Danish violinist Christine Bernsted (born 1994) has distinguished herself as a major prize winner in numerous international violin competitions, including  1st prizes in competitions which led to her debut at the Berliner Philharmonie’s Kammermusiksaal, followed by recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Danish violinist Christine Bernsted (born 1994) has distinguished herself as a major prize winner in numerous international violin competitions, including 1st prizes in competitions which led to her debut at the Berliner Philharmonie’s Kammermusiksaal, followed by recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and at the Royal Albert Hall.

In addition, Christine won 1st prize at the inaugural 2018 Melbourne International Violin Competition in Australia. In 2021 she won both the 1st prize in 12° Concorso Internazionale “Città di Treviso” in Italy and 2nd prize as well as two special prizes in Mieczysław Wajnberg International Violin Competition in Katowice, Poland. Christine has received awards such as the Leonié Sonning Talent Prize and the Carl Nielsen & Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Talent Prize in 2019. In 2020, she performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto as a soloist with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. 

Christine is currently studying for her Advanced Postgraduate Diploma with Professor Eszter Haffner at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. She is concurrently studying as a Postgraduate student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Professor Elisabeth Kropfitsch. During her master’s programme, she also conducted extensive studies in Vienna with Gerhard Schulz and Boris Kuschnir. 

Christine has performed solo recitals and chamber music recitals at prominent music festivals in Denmark and in venues such as DR Koncerthuset, The Black Diamond, Musikhuset Århus and the David Collection in Copenhagen. Together with pianist Ramez Mhaanna, Christine released her critically acclaimed debut album of Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata & Schubert’s Fantasie for violin and piano in 2021.

Christine is a Larsen Strings Performing Artist and plays on a Stefan-Peter Greiner violin on loan from the Augustinus Foundation.
